The first day of school meant big excitement at Phillippe Elementary.  The bell is supposed to ring when little brother takes his nap but today we just couldn't wait to get started! Jack I started by introducing the calendar, and followed the method outlined  here. Calendar Time Today was all about Jack's name. That's me! He could already recognize his name, and tell you the letters in his name when asked, but did not always put those letters in the right order.  I provided an assortment of the letters in his name, and his task was to put them in the correct order. J-A-C-K Next we read the book  God Knows My Name  by Debby Anderson. God knows my name! Jack is very interested in mysteries - so the invisible name center was right up his alley.  He had to use paint to find the "secret" word. What does it say? This is a fun project for reinforcing the letters in the name.  Write the child's name in white crayon on white paper.  (Note - washable crayon will not work for this project.)  When the child paints over the letters with watercolors, the name appears. Invisible name project
