Turkey Ten's

This week we learned to count by tens, or skip counting. First, we looked at our hundreds chart and Dottie pointed out the numbers ending in zeros. We then pointed to the numbers and counted out loud. The next day we used our LeapFrog Learning Hoops. It is a basketball game that you can set to count by 1's, 2's, 5's, or10's. Each time you make a goal it counts up. Clyde also had alot of fun participating in this game! Next, we used our giant turkey and placed his tail feathers in order by tens. Last, we made hand print turkeys and labeled the "fingers" by tens counting to 100!

Poultry Week - Kindergarten books

This week we read a lot of great books, all noted in the Week 12 Lesson plans. They were all eggs-cellent! haha

Popcorn Sight Word Review for Kindergarten

To review our sight words and because we learned that the Native Americans taught the Pillgrims how to make popcorn we played this game. I wrote all the forty something words we have learned so far on white popcorn shapes. We mixed these with real kernels of uncopped popcorn. Dottie used her fine motor skills to pluck each piece of popcorn from the bowl and read it. Then we were both really hungry for the real deal and a good movie! Mixing them together Tongs ready! Look I got one! Yummy words! 100% fun

Thanksgiving for Kindergarten

This week was full of Thanksgiving activities in preparation for the big holiday. We studied the pilgirims voyage and the native americans role in the first thanksgiving,  made and arranged cornucopias, sorted harvest vegetables, and enjoyed great books about turkeys! Here is a look at the fun we had! They came on the Mayflower They built houses The Native Americans helped them plant food The pilgrims thanked God and they feasted together! Glitter glue fruits and vegetables Papersack My own Cornucopia! Now for a big one for a feast! I think grapes would be nice! Fruits are better than vegetables I think! Practice cutting harvest vegetables All cut! and ready to sort by recognizing beginning and ending sounds! Gracias!- our Thanksgiving Turkey! Happy Thanksgiving!
