We've learned a lot about family this month... in a way much beyond fisher price dollhouses, workstations, and songs. We have learned what family means....what it's like to fight for .....great loss, reunification, and how it must feel to be unable to care for your loved ones. It's about older generations counting on the younger ones for their futures in places where no money, means no food and death. It's about families forced to give the fifth to save the first four. It's about families willing to open their homes and love the weak, vulnerable, and lonely. It's about children desperate for moms and dads and moms and dads desperate for children. My prayer is that my children have learned real lessons about long suffering, struggle, love, hope, and selflessness this year.
Most of life's greatest lessons are not in workbooks or classrooms but lived out through hard times where our own helplessness, failures, and dependency on the Lord builds in us the strength of character to pick ourselves up and go change the world.
